The ports coordinator highlights investment in the port system

After the last session of the Board Director Meeting of APIMazatlan 2011, in which as President of the Council Mr. Alejandro Chacón Dominguez , General Coordinator of Ports and Merchant Marine of the SCT, held a press conference with media to make known local figures, achievements, progress, investment and future projects of the Ports of Mexico.

He noted the amount invested from the period 2007 - 2011 in which it has invested 22,314.85 million pesos of public and private investment mdp 17,050.15 for a total of 39.356 billion pesos as a whole. Represents a 39% higher than the same period of the previous administration, the 395% for the period 1995-1999.

Also pointed out that in the case of Mazatlan, 2007 at the end of 2011 will be invested 724.4 million pesos and by 2012 it is estimated a projected investment of 73.2 million pesos.

Likewise, it was announced that derived from competition to tender operations Multipurpose Terminal (TUM), API said bidder Mazatlan to the Chilean company SAAM PORTS to submit the proposal offering the best conditions according to the contest. The company expected to invest 400 million pesos and will update this Terminal in anticipation of APIMazatlan to increased load will cause the opening of the Durango-Mazatlan road in 2012.

Announced future projects to be realized for the port of Mazatlan resize some of which are derived from studies conducted by the API 6 years ago.

• New Cruise Terminal
• New Ferry Terminal
• Patio trucking regulator
• Road Improvement Works (joint venture Federal, State and Municipal)

It also unveils the future vision of the port expansion in the Stone Island which is displayed in the medium and long term as demand for port services charges and require, this expansion could take shape once you start dredging of the navigation channel aimed at relocating the ferry terminal to the Urias estuary which could be in short and medium term, just as the new cruise terminal.
