In commercial terms the Port of Mazatlan serves the states of the Northern Economic Corridor (Sinaloa, Nayarit, Durango, Zacatecas, Chihuahua, Coahuila, Nuevo Leon, Tamaulipas) and Jalisco, Guanajuato, Queretaro.

Additionally, there is a link as a provider of supplies to the peninsula of Baja California. In the hinterland of the port are the main products and sub-products from agriculture, fisheries, forestry and mineral, bound for major world markets.
