API Mazatlan makes bid failure

According with the program of activities and competition rules, last December 12th., API Mazatlán made the announcement for bidder issued to the company SAAM PORTS.

The company from Chile, has port terminal operations in Chile and the United States and is present mainly in Mexico through its subsidiary "SAAM REMOLQUES" which is based on the port of Veracruz and boasts a modern fleet of tugboats with that serves several Mexican ports highlighting Veracruz and Lázaro Cardenas.

SAAM PORTS belongs to a group of port service oriented businesses, logistics and ships agency of Mazatlan and Mexico that will benefit from the experience and portfolio of businesses that the parent company SAAM (Chile) has developed for over 50 years and now the first time integrate direct operations of a Mexican port, the group will consolidate and detonate a larger number of businesses taking advantage of the geographical position of Mazatlan (Pacific) and its responsibility as a port of entry and exit of the economic corridor Pacific North representing 7 states of northern Mexico.

The estimated investment of 400 million pesos, mainly in reconstruction of docks and port facilities to modernize and increase productivity in the unloading and loading of vessels and streamline the patios and storage space to capture the initial growth expected by the next opening in late 2012 of the Durango-Mazatlán highway.
